Background

Over 20-years of experience in the on-line industry, starting in 1985- long before the Internet became a reality. In those days BBS systems were the equivalent of today's "internet"- Len's first company ResNova Software (covered below) was the first graphical BBS, and a prelude to Mosaic and what we now call a browser- like Explorer or Netscape.

Operating Systems:

  • MAC OS
  • Windows 98/ME
  • Windows 2000 server/professional
  • Windows 2003 server/professional
  • Windows XP Professional, Server 2003
  • Windows Vista
  • Linux (all varieties)

Current skills of interest include:

  • ASP
  • HTML, DHTML (CSS/JavaScript)
  • DOT-NET
  • Cold Fusion (Dreamweaver as coding tool)
  • Microsoft SQL, MYSQL
  • IIS
  • Network Administration/Design, Windows 2000, NT, Linux
  • Macintosh-PC integration, coexistence.
  • Active Directory
  • Internet Filtering

Right before the World Wide Web and HTML became a standard, Len co-founded ResNova Software with Alex Hopmann and Greg Herlihy which developed the first graphical BBS in 1988. ("NovaLink Professional", in 1993 renamed "NovaServer") By 1995 ResNova created "Web for One "- the first web server software for the Macintosh and was purchased by Microsoft.  Web for one was then included with the personal web server that was bundled with Microsoft Explorer for Macintosh.  Tens of Millions of copies are in use today!  Alex Hoppman, the original founder of ResNova, went on to work for Microsoft and over time became a lead programmer for Microsoft Exchange- the eventual evolution of NovaServer and a realization of Alex's initial vision in 1988. Greg Herlihy, the 3rd co- founder of ResNova signed-on with Microsoft as well and went on to work on explorer for the Macintosh. The concepts of ResNova and Novalink set the standard and direction of many popular tools we now use every day.

Projects of note which have been completed in the past include an internal regional technical monitoring system for US West, email systems for the US House of Representatives (pre-internet), a stock quote system for the Nasdaq Stock Exchange (pre-internet) and internal BBS systems for Boeing, Hughes Aircraft, Rockwell and McDonald Douglas, the Flagstaff Chamber Homepage, Cliff Castle Casino, Flagstaff Medical Center, The Grand Canyon Railway and Mesa Verde National Park for the National Park Service.

With over ten (10) years of experience in MSQL, LINUX, Mac OS, Cold Fusion, Java, JavaScript and Flash/Director, Len provides all the talents needed for database design, web design and deployment. Len's database experience started with Dbase, Double Helix and Fox Base, in the late '80s.
